East of England Co-op launches new online shopping platform and app

The East of England Co-op has launched its first own online shopping platform and app.

The retailer said the move means that it has become the first regional co-operative to have its own shopping platform, and the first Co-op food retailer in the UK with its own app.

When visiting eastofengland.coop/onlineshopping and the app, customers will be able to order their weekly shop and book a delivery slot from 25 of the East of England Co-op’s stores. After being picked and packed in-store, the orders will be fulfilled by East of England Co-op’s new delivery partner Gophr.

The retailer has also announced a new partnership with the Just Eat rapid delivery service in which customers can order groceries from their local East of England Co-op and get them delivered to their doors in as little as 20 minutes. The service is available at 53 East of England Co-op stores across Norfolk, Suffolk, Essex and Cambridgeshire.

Matt Adamson, who joined East of England Co-op earlier this year in the newly created role of head of ecommerce, said: “We’re immensely proud to be the first regional co-operative to have our own shopping platform, and become the first co-op food retailer in the UK with our own app.

“To be launching our own online shopping platform alongside rapid delivery with Just Eat means we’re able to offer our customers a great variety of online shopping options.

“After significant development and a successful trial, our new platform allows customers access to our full range, including Sourced Locally produce from local producers, setting us apart from other online shopping retailers. And of course, they can still earn dividend points.”
