Costa re-opens a further 46 stores

Costa has announced the re-opening of another raft of coffee shops following a trial run of a small number of stores during the past three weeks.

The company has been introducing a range of social distancing and enhanced hygiene measures across the trial locations and said feedback from staff and customers has given it the confidence to re-open more stores.

Stores re-opening include 31 drive-thru locations and 15 stores for takeaway only.

Costa has warned customers that the stores will look and feel very different from the pre-coronavirus lockdown due to measures such as social distancing, hand sanitiser stations, contactless payment and PPE for staff being rolled out.

Jill McDonald, chief executive of Costa Coffee, added: “We look forward to welcoming customers safely back into our stores and thank those team members working to support us as we re-open.”
