Costa Coffee and Sainsbury’s join forces on new cafe experience
Costa Coffee and Sainsbury’s are teaming up to launch 11 new cafes in Sainsbury’s supermarkets this year.
With an investment exceeding £3 million, the new coffee shops will feature Costa’s latest contemporary store design.
The agreement will create over 100 job as well as training opportunities for team members.
Alongside its Ready to Drink and At Home ranges on Sainsbury’s shelves, Costa Coffee already has over 1,000 Costa Express machines in Sainsbury’s stores and petrol stations through which it sold ten million cups of coffee last year.
The first of the new coffee shops opened in Sainsbury’s Farlington Superstore in Portsmouth last week.
Richard Crampton, Sainsbury’s director of fresh food, said: “We know that customers like the convenience of being able to stop for a drink, snack or sit-down lunch while they’re doing their shopping, and we think that Costa Coffee stores will offer a fantastic opportunity to do this within Sainsbury’s supermarkets.
“That’s why we’re delighted to be building on our existing collaboration with Costa Coffee to roll out this fantastic new option for customers in our stores over the next year and we’re looking forward to hearing what they think.”
