Co-op works with Buymie on same day grocery delivery service

The Co-op has collaborated with Buymie on the introduction of same-day home grocery deliveries across Bristol.

The partnership is the first in the UK for Ireland based Buymie which expects to create 200 personal shopping jobs for the service over the next six months. The service will be available to over 200,000 households across Bristol and the surrounding area.

Users of Buymie’s app can select from around 4,000 Co-op products with no limit on basket size, then select a convenient delivery slot.  .A personal shopper is then appointed to provide seanless communication for the customer throughout the shopping process. They will also ensure that customers are offered the best substitutions.

The service sits alongside Co-op’s own same day online delivery service which offers delivery or collection slots in as little as two hours on products picked by in-store staff. The Co-op announced earlier this year that it expects its online offer to be available from 650 stores  by the end of 2020.

Jason Perry, Co-op head of online development, said: “Ease, speed and convenience is at the core of our approach. With customer experience and quality front of mind, our decision to partner with Buymie allows us to continue to expand access to our products online, and offer greater flexibility and choice to meet consumer needs in our communities.”

In addition to deliveries being made in as little as one hour, 60 minute slots can be selected up to seven days in advance. Customers are also able to note specific preferences on their orders and can request a call if items are out of stock.
