Co-op to open first north east franchise store at Newcastle University
The Co-op will be opening its first franchise store in the North East through a partnership with Newcastle University Student Union.
The existing students’ union store on the university’s campus is being extended and given a new look in time for Fresher’s this September.
Spanning 2,500 square feet, the shop will be managed and run by Newcastle University Students’ Union.
Martin Rogers, Co-op’s head of new channels, said: “This is an important development for Co-op. Our franchise stores provide an exciting opportunity to grow our brand and create value for our partners and communities. We look forward to working closely with Newcastle Students Union and serving the campus community.”
A Co-op franchise store opened on Kent University’s campus last month. This followed the introduction of a franchise store at Leeds University campus earlier this year.
