Co-op supports humanitarian appeal with sale of Ukrainian lager
Today (Monday 11 April), leading convenience retailer Co-op is set to add to its support of the DEC Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal, by being the first to announce it will stock Ukraine’s much-loved beer brand, Chernigivske, from the end of April.
As Ukraine’s most loved beer brand, Budweiser Brewing Group is newly introducing Chernigivske to the UK market.
Sales of the beer will add to the support that Co-op is giving to the DEC Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal, an appeal for which Co-op has already raised over £1 million.
Budweiser Brewing Group’s profits will be distributed across designated NGOs, including Caritas International.
Customers will be able to purchase Chernigivske (ABV 4.8%) in 10x440ml packs from their local Co-op for £10, complete with vibrant packaging in the Ukrainian colours.
Simon Cairns, Head of Beer, Wines and Spirits at Co-op said: “We’re delighted to be able to sell Chernigivske in our stores and continue our efforts to support the people of Ukraine. It’s a great tasting beer, which has been enjoyed for decades in Ukraine and by purchasing this product, our customers and members will be directly contributing to humanitarian relief efforts.”
Anna Rudenko, Marketing Director, Chernigivske, Ukraine said: “I am proud that we can launch Chernigivske in the UK to support humanitarian relief. Chernigivske has been enjoyed by generations of Ukrainians. As a brewer, we can use our daily interactions with consumers to bring this beer to market and enable consumers to support humanitarian relief efforts.”
The 10 x 440ml pack launches at the end of April across Co-op stores for *£10.
*Chernigivske will be available nationwide in Co-op stores. Price point will be £10 for England and £10.56 for Wales and Scotland due to MUP restrictions.
