Co-op invests £2.3 million in two Birmingham food stores

Co-op is set to open two food stores in Birmingham this month following a £2.3 million investment.

The stores will support 30 local jobs.

The retailer will be launching a brand new shop in the city’s University Locks and has also overhauled the infrastructure of its Harbborne petrol station to enable it to extend the existing food store on the site by almost a third.

In addition to groceries, the Harborne store will offer Amazon Lockers, hot food, a bakery, Costa coffee express and customer car parking.

Customers at both stores will also be able to order groceries via the Deliveroo App.

Ben Bennett, Co-op area manager, said: “We are delighted to have the opportunity to make such a significant investment in Birmingham, both stores have a great look and feel, and we have worked to develop the range, choice, products and services locally that will create a really compelling offer to serve the community, conveniently.”
