Co-op food store to land at Salford’s Clippers Quay

The Co-op is to open a new food store in Salford’s Clippers Quay that runs on 100% renewable electricity.

Set to launch on 2 August, the 2,500 square foot store is situated close to the waterfront.

It will sell a range of food-to-go and will feature a Costa coffee dispenser and in-store bakery. There will also be a range of grocery items, hot food, sandwiches and wines on sale.

In addition, the new store will offer compostable carriers. Costing 5p, the not for profit bags will be the same price as the single use plastic bags that they will replace.

Paul Griffin, Co-op area manager, said the store’s location is benefiting from inward investment and re-development. He added: “The store will have a great look and range, it’s all about getting closer to our members and customers, providing what they want, need and care about, conveniently. Our aim is for the store to operate at the heart of local life.”
