Clacton Nisa stores raise over £17,000 for community projects
Community retailers Dollar and Meena Patel have donated £400 through Making a Difference Locally (MADL) to St Osyth Parish Council to support community projects in the area. Owners of the two Nisa Local stores in Clacton, Dollar and Meena have once again demonstrated their commitment to their local community with frequent donations. The latest contribution will specifically support site maintenance and groundworks in Essex.
With their latest contribution, Dollar and Meena have now donated over £17,000 to community causes including funding for Greenland Grove Animal Sanctuary, St Osyth Cricket Club, St Osyth Parish Church, and St Osyth Parish Council.
Making a Difference Locally is part of Nisa’s commitment to giving back to the communities it serves. Since its inception, the initiative has donated over £17 million to local charities and community organisations. MADL raises funds in Nisa partner stores from sales of all Co-op own-label products, with a percentage going into a virtual fund for retailers to donate. Additional funds can also be raised via in-store collecting tins and clothing banks.
“We are incredibly grateful to Dollar and Meena Patel for their continued generosity,” said Sonia Grantham of St Osyth Parish Council. “Their support is invaluable in helping us maintain our beautiful community space. In 2023, the Parish Council planted an arboretum to celebrate the Platinum Jubilee of the late Queen and we received a grant of £1,000 from Making a Difference Locally. The level of rainfall in spring has meant we didn’t have the budget for additional groundworks so this funding from our local Nisa stores has been incredibly useful for us to help maintain the area.”
Dollar Patel commented, “We are delighted to be able to support locally in our community by making a difference to all who visit.”

We are frequently seeing the cost of maintaining community grounds increase and the poor weather at the start of this year hasn’t helped that. It’s brilliant to see that MADL and our retailers can be there to support in a variety of ways.”
