Central England Co-op opens new £2.2 million Cambridgeshire store
Central England Co-op has officially opened a new Cambridgeshire store in Sutton.
Situated on Ely Road, the shop is powered by 100% renewable energy and features self-scan till points, a bicycle repair station, a customer car park with electric car charging points, a free hot and cold water refill station and a phone charging area.
In addition, a food bank collection point has been installed to support the work of Ely Food Bank.
To mark the launch of the store, store manager Rebecca Mott made a special donation of food and essentials to the food bank.
She said: “It is great to finally open our doors to the local community as the team have been desperate to support our neighbours and ensure they can access food and essentials during the pandemic.
“All of us here at the new store are proud to be part of such a great community in Sutton so we are delighted to be able to support Ely Food Bank which is offering a lifeline to vulnerable residents and people struggling in these testing times.”
Opening from 7am to 10pm Monday to Sunday, the shop will sell fresh fruit and vegetables, chilled beers and wines, fresh and frozen products, and breads and pastries made in an in-store bakery.
The Central England Co-op development in Ely Road also includes a second smaller retail unit which will house a food takeaway.
