Central England Co-op invested £12 million in new stores, refits and funeral homes in 2019
Central England Co-operative has revealed that it invested nearly £12 million in expanding the business throughout 2019.
This included opening 10 new food stores and relaunching nine convenience stores. The business also opened two new funeral booking offices and relaunched six funeral homes.
Regions benefiting from the investment included Birmingham, Stafford, Nottingham, Cambridgeshire, Norfolk, Suffolk, Derbyshire and Leicestershire.
In addition to offering an extensive range of products, the food stores have been fitted out with new energy efficient refrigeration technologies and LED lighting to minimise their environmental impact. Many of the stores also feature free water refill stations, phone charging areas, indoor and outdoor seating, collection points for local food banks and customer toilets.
