Central England Co-op backs campaigns supporting Ukrainians impacted by Russian invasion
Central England Co-op is encouraging customers to show their support for humanitarian relief efforts in Ukraine by picking up a pack of one of the country’s most popular beers.
The retailer is now stocking Chernigivske beer in all 260 of its food stores as part of a campaign by the Budweiser Brewing Group, which is donating all profits from a special 10 pack to relief efforts in the war torn country.
Budweiser employs 1,800 people in breweries in Ukraine, some of which have been hit by missiles and are no longer operational. To support colleagues, Budweiser has paid their annual salaries upfront in the hope that they will get to a safe place and be able to transfer to Budweiser breweries in other countries.
Budweiser is hoping to raise at least £5 million through the pack sales.
Central England Co-op is also giving its customers the opportunity to support the Disasters Emergency Committee Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal in-store.
Store manager Jamie Joyce said: “Everyone has been shocked and saddened by the events unfolding in Ukraine and all our communities have shown their desire to do what they can to support those impacted by the conflict and that has been highlighted by how they’ve given to the DEC appeal in store. We’re delighted to now stock the special pack of Che lager in our stores and it’s a really great campaign by Budweiser which we’re proud to support.”
The special 10 pack is priced at £10.
