Carrefour names new chief executive
The Carrefour supermarket chain has appointed Alexandre Bompard as chief executive. He will succeed current chief executive Georges Plassat on 18 July.
Having held several positions within the Canal + Group from 2004 to 2008, Bompard was then appointed as chairman and chief executive of Europe 1 and Europe 1 Sport.
In 2011, he joined the Fnac Group as chairman and chief executive and launched the group’s IPO in 2013. Following Fnac’s takeover of Darty, he became chairman and chief executive Fnac-Darty group in 2016.
In a statement, Carrefour said: “The board of directors considers that in light of his career, his experience and his success in his previous positions, Alexandre Bompard has all the skills to succeed Georges Plassat and continue to develop and transform Carrefour in all respects.”
