Cake Box to acquire Ambala Foods
Cake Box, the retailer of egg-free celebration cakes, has agreed to acquire Ambala Foods in a £22 million deal.
This consists of £16 million for Ambala and £6 million for the company’s manufacturing facility in Welwyn Garden City.
Family run Ambala has been manufacturing and retailing Asian sweets in the UK since 1965. It currently operates 22 stores, including 19 owned and three franchised stores.
Cake Box said the acquisition will substantially broaden its product range in relevant stores and will also provide strategic growth opportunities.
