Bournemouth’s Bobby & Co to include food hall just for dogs
The newly renovated Bobby & Co department store in Bournemouth is to include a food hall devoted entirely to dogs when it opens this summer.
Featuring a cake shop, a “Lick ‘n’ Mix station” and a doggy tuck shop, the DROOL pop-up space will also offer a dog ball recycling centre and will be designed to give dogs a respite from the summer heat.
All the stands in the hall will be hound-height with dedicated holes designed for sniffing to help owners find out which foods are their dog’s favourites.
Delicacies stocked will include the likes of Fish & Chip Flavour Dog Treats, Seaside Theme Biscuits, Cherry Barkwells, Dog Doughnuts and even Liver Cakes which will be freshly made each day. Doggy-Doo-Doo Cupcakes will also be on offer. All treats have been sourced from artisan dog bakeries from around the UK, including Millie & Ruby’s and baker Charlotte O’Toole of Bakeorama.
Food at the “Lick ‘n’ Mix” station will include cheese stars, apple and mint bites, dried banana and dried sardines. Offered by the scoop, these will be served in brightly striped paper sweet bags. Seaside themed bags of treats, dog wine & beer and dog peanut butter will also be available from the tuck shop.
DROOL forms part of the grand reopening of the former Debenhams store which is being transformed into Bobby & Co. The Bobby’s store opened in Bournemouth in 1915 and remained there for over 50 years before being taken over by Debenhams in 1972.
