Booths announces international joint venture
Booths supermarket is to take its first steps in international expansion this year by embarking on a joint venture to sell premium Booths brand products in Malaysia.
The North West based family owned business will provide goods to high end food retailers across East Asia, offering new markets a taste of its chutneys, jams, coffees and teas, flavoured water, healthy snacks and breakfast items. The products will be stocked in 19 shops across Malaysia.
The company’s new export and business to business department is headed up by Henry Booth, who visited Malaysia to meet new customers earlier this year.
Booth said: “I’m very happy that British products made in the north west of England could have such a positive and enthusiastic reception on the other side of the world and I hope that the Malaysian customers will grow to love Booths’ products as much as the customers we serve in the UK. There is a real fondness for heritage brands in Asia, and we hope the Booths story and products will capture their imaginations.”
Established as a tea dealer in Blackpool in 1847, Booths makes and manufactures many of its own label products. Items range from tea and coffee blended and packaged in Preston to sausages made on site.
