Asda to create hundreds of new tech roles
Asda is to create hundreds of new tech roles as part of plans to separate its IT function from its previous owner Walmart.
The move follows the sale of the supermarket to EG owners Zuber Issa and Mohsin Issa and TDR Capital earlier this year.
The project will involve all of Asda’s IT processes being moved from Walmart’s platforms to its own.
The new roles include positions for cloud architects and engineers, data scientists, solution architects, data project managers, business change managers and more. Positions will be based at the supermarket’s Leeds headquarters, although successful applicants will adopt a hybrid working approach.
In a post on Linkedin, Asda talent acquisition manager Clare Tempest said: “Just released about 30 new roles (some multiple roles) and that’s nothing compared to the rest that will come through over the next few weeks. This programme is going to be massive with so many opportunities. Exciting times ahead for Asda technology.”
