Asda poaches Morrison’s Matt Kelleher for chief digital officer role
Asda has appointed Matt Kelleher as its first chief digital officer as it continues to evolve how it uses data to improve its customer offering.
Currently working as chief information officer at the Morrisons, he will join Asda in July.
In his new position, Kelleher will head up Asda’s data and ecommerce functions and also its technology functions once its ongoing technology transformation project ‘Future’ is complete. He will also become part of Asda’s existing executive leadership team.
Prior to joining Morrisons in 2012, Kelleher worked with Carphone Warehouse and Best Buy Europe.
Asda has also announced the appointment of Atheeq Akbar as VP of commercial finance. He will join the supermarket in June, reporting to Michael Gleeson. Akbar also works with Morrisons in the role of finance director – commercial and has previously worked with Tesco and Etihad Airways.
