Asda opens largest Asda On the Move store
Asda has opened its biggest store to date on an EG Group petrol filling station.
Situated on EG’s London Road forecourt in Retford in Nottinghamshire, the 5,000 square foot Asda On the Move store offers more than 2,500 Asda own brand and branded items, including Extra Special and fresh and chilled products. The range also spans EG-operated food service brands LEON and KFC.
Following a successful trial in four Asda On the Move stores, shoppers will also be able to access Asda’s full online range for click and collect, as well as collection and returns on parcels from more than 100 brands and George.com in store.
In addition, the site will also have two electric vehicle charging points.
The move means that the number of Asda On the Move stores has risen to 32.
In the second half of April, EG Group owned bakery chain Cooplands will open a café inside the Asda On the Move store which will offer customers a choice of hot food-to-go.
Oliver Silvester, head of Asda On the Move, said: “The launch of our largest ever Asda On the Move with EG Group marks an important step in Asda’s commitment to ensure more customers have greater access to our extensive range of value products and services – whether on the move, online, in-store, or via click and collect.
“Our partnership with EG Group makes this possible and combines our expertise in food retail with EG’s roster of innovative and well-known food service brands. It’s fantastic to see our biggest Asda On the Move to date launch in Retford.”
