Asda hires David Devany as vice president for ecommerce
Asda has appointed David Devany, Iceland’s group chief customer, marketing and digital officer, as vice president for ecommerce.
Possessing over 25 years’ experience in ecommerce, digital and marketing, Devany has worked with Iceland since 2020 and has previously held senior roles at Claire’s and JJB Sports.
Asda said he will be taking up his new role in due course.
The supermarket’s co-owner Mohsin Issa said: “As we continue to strengthen our senior leadership team, I am delighted to announce that we have appointed David Devany as our new VP ecommerce.
“David has extensive experience and a proven-track record in retail within the UK, as well as across Europe and the USA.
“David’s remit will cover the entirety of our ecommerce business, and his appointment will play an important part as we continue to grow our online grocery offering.”
Devany will report to chief digital officer Matt Kelleher who will join Asda in July from Morrisons.
The supermarket has also recently announced that Lidl’s chief operating officer Matt Heslop will join the business in the coming months.
In his new role, Heslop will lead Asda’s stores and depots operation and help to accelerate Asda Express’ position in the convenience market.
