Aldi signs armed forces covenant to support ex-military colleagues
Aldi has become a signatory of the Armed Forces Covenant as mark of its respect and support for former military personnel.
The supermarket offers a range of initiatives to help recognise and support veterans, including a dedicated community hub to help colleagues to connect with others with military experience. It also offers flexibility in granting leave for service spouses and partners before, during and after a partner’s deployment
Other activities include attending specialised recruitment fairs for the armed forces community and sharing ex-service colleague’s stories on the supermarket’s internal platforms to raise awareness, educate and provide representation and role models to staff.
Kelly Stokes, HR director at Aldi, said: “The sacrifices made by those who serve in the armed forces and their families who support them is something we do not take for granted.
Never Miss a Retail Update!“We understand that transitioning from the military to a retail job is a big adjustment, but we are committed to helping ex-military colleagues while ensuring the skills gained during their time in the forces are embraced within the business.”
Aldi is also committed to supporting the annual Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal every year, with fundraising taking place in all of its offices, regional distribution centres and stores.
