Aldi is introducing new in-store social distancing measures to protect staff and customers during the coronavirus crisis.
The retailer has begun rolling out clear plastic screens at more than 7,000 checkouts and is also installing two-metre markers on the floors of stores to enable customers to social distance when queuing.
Other measures include in-store notices reminding customers of the need for effective social distancing and reduced opening hours to give staff more time to re-stock shelves.
In addition, it is encouraging customers to use contactless payment wherever possible.
