Aldi hits 10% grocery market share

Discount supermarket Aldi has hit record double-digit market share according to market researcher Kantar.

The news comes as Kantar today announced that UK grocery inflation has eased slightly to 17.3% in April.

Giles Hurley, Chief Executive Officer, Aldi UK, commented: “Shoppers are voting with their feet by switching from more expensive supermarkets to Aldi. As we hit this new market share milestone, our commitment to offering the lowest grocery prices in Britain is stronger than ever.

“This wouldn’t be possible without the efforts of our amazing 40,000 Aldi colleagues, as well as our thousands of incredible suppliers, who work tirelessly to ensure that no matter what, shoppers save money by switching to Aldi.

“We are delivering even more investment in Britain by creating 6,000 jobs this year, spending £1.3bn over two years on stores and infrastructure, in addition to a further £3.5 billion a year with our British suppliers by the end of 2025.”
