ZARA becomes latest brand to use Piñatex pineapple leather
London-based B-Corp Ananas Anam, has partnered with Zara, to launch a range of shoes, sandals, and accessories using Piñatex, the company’s next-generation pineapple leather, PIÑATEX®.
The leather pioneers which claims Piñatex is the most sustainable plant-based alternative to leather available at scale, has previously linked up with other major brands and retailers including Nike, H&M, Hugo Boss and Paul Smith.
“Anything can be done,” according to Anas Anam, “as long as all the players in the fashion business work together for the same objective.” In order to improve the plant-based component in their goods and raise overall sustainability, Piñatex will collaborate with Zara and other fashion businesses. The company claims to be the most sustainable plant-based alternative to leather available on a commercial scale.
Anas Anam announced their first fashion collaboration with fast-fashion giant, Zara after a lengthy list of other partnerships. The line includes a variety of Piñatex-made shoes, sandals, and accessories for men, women, and kids.
The PINATEX x ZARA SA collection was introduced as a component of ZARA’s Sustainability Innovation Hub, a platform for working with forward-thinking fashion manufacturers to support programs that help create a more sustainable product environment.
As a by-product of the pineapple harvest, pineapple leaves’ fibers are what give PINATEX® its distinctiveness. Since no resources were used in the production of the raw materials, PINATEX® is the most environmentally friendly substitute for leather currently on the market. Scale.
