Zalando to open new fulfilment centre in Italy
Zalando, the German online fashion retailer, has announced that it is to build a new fulfilment centre near Verona in Italy.
Construction work for the facility in Nogarole Rocca will start in spring 2018. The move will help Zalando to strengthen the service offered to the retailer’s Italian customers and speed up deliveries in southern European markets. The facility will create over 1,000 new jobs.
Zalando said it had chosen Italy for its next central hub due to its proximity to southern European countries. The fulfilment centre in Nogarole Rocca will have a logistic area of approximately 130,000 square metres, which is similar to Zalando’s existing central hubs in Germany and Poland.
Operations in the facility will be managed by an independent partner who will be selected following a tender process.
