Zalando to enter Ireland and the Czech Republic
Zalando is to launch online shops in Ireland and the Czech Republic this summer. The move will mark the first time the retailer has entered a new country since 2013.
The launches will mean that Zalando has a presence in 17 European countries.
Zalando co-chief executive Rubin Ritter said: “We are excited to bring Zalando to new customers, and we believe our unlimited assortment, personalised shopping experience, and substantial convenience offering will resonate well with Irish and Czech customers. We are tackling our expansion smartly, leveraging knowledge from our existing European markets. And we’re operating in usual Zalando style: launch, learn, iterate, and scale.”
The retailer is also planning to localise its proposition further in Germany and Switzerland by offering additional language versions of its online shops. From mid-summer onwards, customers in Germany will have access to an English language version of the German shop, and customers in Switzerland will benefit from an Italian language version of the Swiss shop.
Zalando has also announced that H&M owned fashion brand Monki will be available on its platform in all European markets from August.
Monki will be the third H&M group brand available on Zalando, alongside Weekday and Cheap Monday.
