White Stuff partners with charity Create to tackle loneliness and isolation
White Stuff has embarked on a new charity partnership with the Create creative arts charity.
According to the Office for National Statistics, almost four million UK adults experience chronic loneliness. With this in mind, the partnership will aim to help tackle the issue though the funding of free creative arts projects ranging from music and dance to painting, photography and drama.
Research by Create has revealed that creative projects can play a positive role in reducing isolation, with 98% of people who took part in creative community projects saying they felt more connected to others, and 96% reporting feeling less isolated as a result.
White Stuff is supporting the launch by selling limited edition tote bags that have been designed in collaboration with illustrator Tony Green. All profits will be donated to Create projects.
In addition, window displays in its Exeter will feature artwork by Green and from Create community projects.
Jo Jenkins, chief executive of White Stuff, said: “Creativity and self-expression are part of our DNA at White Stuff. Our unique, thoughtful designs are what stand us apart from the crowd, so Create is the perfect charity partner for us. We are proud to be partnering with them to help fund creative arts experiences for adults and children experiencing loneliness and isolation in the communities that we operate in.
“The UK is facing a loneliness epidemic and the repercussions can be devastating, but creativity can play an important role in bringing people together.”
White Stuff donates at least 1% of its profits to charity and, through the White Stuff Foundation, has donated over £4 million to charities across the country since the establishment of the foundation in 2010.
