WatchPilot to open first physical store

Online watch retailer WatchPilot is to open its first high street store in London’s Richmond.

Founded in 2020 by Tim Harrison and Akbar Hussain, the retailer offers both affordable and high-end timepieces and the new bricks-and-mortar store will showcase more than 30 brands.

The pair planned to open a physical store much sooner, but the move was delayed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Harrison said: “We will continue to grow our online presence, however, particularly within the luxury side of watch retail, there will always be demand for a premium in store experience.  If our initial Richmond store proves successful, we are open to replicating the concept in other similar locations.”

WatchPilot worked with Redd Retail Groupon on the creation of the concept store which features comfortable consultation areas where watch experts provide advice. The store will also offer 13 designer and sport sunglasses brands.

Hussain said: “We are looking to deliver a local retail alternative in the Richmond area which will offer leading Swiss as well as fashion brands along with smaller niche brands that do not gain the visibility they deserve in major national retailers.”

The store will open on 3 November.
