Tesco and Asos continue to grow Facebook fanbases

The UK Facebook Commerce Index, which ranks the top 25 brands by number of fans and also by growth, found that both Tesco and ASOS continued to rise up the rankings in July.

The index compiled by ChannelAdviser showed that Tesco topped the fanbase growth list with nearly 90,000 extra fans since June. ASOS gained and extra 82,000. ChannelAdviser suggested that ASOS could have benefitted from its ‘page within a page’ Facebook format, the  ‘Instagram’ page allows fans to look at what’s hot in the world of fashion. Meanwhile, Tesco’s fan page featured competitions, recipes and offers  as well as initiatives to enage with Clubcard customers.
 
Other significant movers included baby products retailer Kiddicare which surged to the top of % growth table with a 163% growth in fans.  John Lewis and Dorothy Perkins increased their fanbase by 51% and 57% respectively and River Island passed the 1 million fans mark.
