Ted Baker posts 17.9% increase in Christmas sales
Fashion brand Ted Baker increased its retail sales by 17.9% in the eight weeks to 7 January despite a “tough trading backdop” across its markets.
Online sale rose by 35% year-on-year in the period.
Average retail square footage increased by 8.5% to 386,252 square feet as the company launched further concessions in China, its first store in Bahrain and an additional store in Indonesia.
Gross margins were in line with expectations and the company expects to end the year with a clean stock position.
Ray Kelvin, Ted Baker founder and chief executive, said: “Ted Baker has continued to perform well over the Christmas period against a tough trading backdrop.
“The strength of the brand and our multiple channels of distribution leave us well placed to continue the development of Ted Baker as a global lifestyle brand.”
