Schuh to open dedicated kids’ store at Bluewater
Footwear retailer Schuh is to open a dedicated Schuh Kids store at the Bluewater retail and leisure destination.
Situated immediately adjacent to the existing Schuh store on the upper Thames Walk, the 1,000 square foot shop will open at the end of November.
Together with additional storage space that will be shared by both stores, Schuh’s total footprint at Bluewater is increasing to 7,300 square feet.
Phil Whittle, retail director at Schuh, said: “The performance of children’s shoes at Bluewater has been phenomenal and so we are very pleased to be able to act on this success by opening a standalone Schuh Kids. The dedicated store provides even more choice for customers, reinforcing Bluewater’s position as our regional flagship.”
The new kids store will adapt the new design that was launched by Schuh at Bluewater last year with its technology-focused interior concept. The addition of a standalone Schuh Kids will also allow to the brand to increase its adults range in the existing store.
Other new openings at Bluewater include a 1,100 square foot CK Underwaer store on the upper Rose Gallery, opposite Hugo BOSS and Omega. Immediately next to CK Underwear, Pravins is launching a 1,000 square foot boutique which will be the premium jewellery brand’s first standalone store in the South East.
Meanwhile Build-A-Bear is upsizing to a 2,200 square foot store on the upper Thames Walk. The new Build-A-Bear is adjacent to H&M’s new 40,000 square foot statement store, which opens in December. Build-A-Bear will join the recently opened CK Underwear this Christmas. Pravins will launch in Easter 2017.
Russell Loveland, portfolio director at Land Securities, co-owner and asset manager of Bluewater, added: “These latest additions are examples of that strategy in action, and complement the extensive work in the last 12 months to create a number of new statement stores, such as Next, the forthcoming H&M, FatFace, Mint Velvet and, most recently, Michael Kors.”
