Schuh outlines store reopening plans
Footwear retailer has announced details of its first wave of store reopenings following the lifting of Covid-19 restrictions in England and Ireland.
Three stores have reopened today in Ireland. The remaining shops in the country will relaunch from 15 June along with the majority of stores in England.
All reopened stores will initially be operating to reduced trading hours with a range of Covid-19 health and safety measures in place. These include staff being provided with PPE and the introduction of in-store hand sanitisers and enhanced cleaning regimes. In addition, there will be a limit on the number of customers allowed in a store at any one time, and floor layouts will be reorganised to allow for social distancing.
A further precautionary measure will see all shoes that are tried on but not purchased being sprayed with disinfectant before being put back into stock. Furthermore, customer returns will be ‘quarantined’ for a full 72 hours.
The retailer said two Channel Island stores that have reopened in the last fortnight have got off to an encouraging start.
In a statement, Schuh said: The Schuh management team will continue to monitor the situation and will update any safety measures in response to any changed guidance. Stores reopening is critical to Schuh’s recovery plan so every decision taken is very carefully considered and plans will be constantly reviewed to ensure they are working.”
