Schuh launches single shoe initiative for shoppers with limb differences and disabilities
Footwear retailer Schuh is rolling out a new initiative to enable customers to make single shoe purchases in its stores.
The move follows positive feedback from customers who have previously purchased one shoe via Schuh’s customer care team.
Shoppers will get 50% off single shoes taken from a brand-new pair.
Schuh is partnering with model and amputee advocate Georgia Stannard on the initiative, who works to increase inclusivity and representation in the fashion sector.
Stannard said: “When I heard Schuh was announcing its single shoe initiative, I felt so proud to be working with a brand striving towards greater inclusivity and disability awareness. Having more choice makes me feel supported and confident about shopping for my favourite shoes in-store.”
Schuh also runs a number of purpose-led programmes as part of its ongoing commitment to disability equality. These have included diverse casting in campaigns, image descriptors and subtitles across social content, and making sure that 10% of all ecommerce product imagery features disabled models or models with visible differences.
It also observes quiet hours in several stores and has resources available to show what to expect when shopping at a Schuh store.
Neil Partington, chief retail officer at Schuh, said: “‘Creating an inclusive shopping experience is a key part of our business strategy. I am delighted to be able to roll out single-shoe purchases to all schuh stores. We have been doing it via our customer experience team for some time, but now, even more people will have access to our hottest brands and products through this inclusive product offering.”
