Ralph Lauren to add Angela Ahrendts to its board of directors
Ralph Lauren is planning to add former Burberry chief executive Angela Ahrendts to its board of directors.
The US fashion brand will nominate Ahrendts for election at its annual meeting of stockholders in August and has also appointed Michael George to the board with immediate effect.
Ahrendts is currently senior vice president of retail at Apple where she oversees strategy, real estate and the operations of Apple’s physical stores, online store and contact centres.
Prior to that, she headed up Burberry from 2006 to 2014 and was previously executive vice president at Liz Claiborne.
Meanwhile, George was recently named president and chief executive of QVC owner Qurate Retail after holding the same positions at QVC for 12 years. His previous roles include chief marketing officer of Dell, general manager of Dell’s US consumer business and senior partner at McKinsey & Company.
Ralph Lauren, executive chairman and chief creative officer, said: “I am delighted to welcome Angela and Mike to the board of directors. Angela is an industry leader and innovator with deep expertise in luxury retail and an outstanding track record of growing global brands. Mike brings invaluable experience as a senior leader and board member, helping companies drive consumer engagement and growth.”
