Quiz sales in line with expectations
Fashion retailer Quiz has said its sales were consistent with expectations in the three months to 30 June.
The company’s total sales increased to £17.3 million from £4.2 million in the same period in the previous year.
Sales through Quiz’s own websites climbed to £4.6 million from last year’s £2.2 million with revenues steadily improving throughout the period. Sales through third party websites amounted to £1.8 million, although these were impacted by the cessation of trading through the Debenhams website from early April.
As of 30 June 2021, Quiz operated 61 stores in the UK, which was 13 less than prior to the lockdown of stores in March 2020. Sales in UK stores and concessions rose to £7.3 million from £0.2 million in same period in the prior year.
International sales were also up, increasing to £3.7 million from a previous £0.5 million.
Looking ahead, the company said in a statement: “The group continues to focus on identifying and delivering new opportunities to profitably grow revenues through its own website and store network, as well as by working with new partners appropriate for the Quiz brand.
“The group looks forward to the further relaxation of restrictions on social activities, which the board believes will result in increased demand Quiz’s ranges which have traditionally provided popular options for social events and celebrations.”
