Primark to double store size in Westfields
Primark has today announced plans to extend its store at Westfield Stratford City Shopping Centre, offering even more choice across its extensive fashion, beauty, lifestyle and home ranges.
The expansion, which is expected to complete in early 2024, will see the current store almost double in size, moving from two floors to four, and expanding from 45,100 sq ft to 81,000 sq ft.
250 new vacancies will also be created, with more details and information on how to apply to be released in the coming months on the Primark website.
The announcement forms part of Primark’s planned £140 million investment in the UK high street, which will see the retailer create at least 850 new jobs and increase its selling space by more than 160,000 sq ft over the next two years.
Kari Rodgers, Primark Retail Director UK, said: “After setting out an ambitious investment plan a few months ago, it’s exciting that we can now reveal another one of the stores set to benefit.
“We’re looking forward to extending our offering at Westfield and giving shoppers in Stratford even more of the great style and incredible value they love the most.”
Primark has already committed to opening at least four new stores over the next two years – with Craigavon opened in December, with Salisbury, Teesside Park and Bury St Edmunds to follow. It is also planning refurbishments to existing stores as well as the relocation of some stores including Bradford and High Wycombe.
It also plans to continue to grow its successful partnerships and collaborations, designed to complement the Primark offer in-store. This includes ‘WornWell by the Vintage Wholesale Company,’ which has opened in Primark stores in Birmingham, Manchester and London’s Oxford Street, and ‘Tasty by Greggs’ cafés, which opened in Birmingham and London last year. Beauty studios and other food and beverage outlets can already be enjoyed by customers in a number of Primark’s UK stores.
