Primark continues US expansion

Discount fashion retailer Primark is to open three new US stores this summer as it continues to expand in the country.

New shops in New York and New Jersey will launch in Green Acres Mall in Long Island on 22 June and The Mills at Jersey Gardens on 6 July. There will also be an opening at Crossgates Mall in Albany on 20 July. The stores will each have more than 33,000 square feet of retail selling space.

The move means Primark will have a total of 20 stores in the US and 428  globally.

Kevin Tulip, president Primark US, said: “The reception we’ve received as we’ve joined new communities in the US has been overwhelmingly positive, with lines of new customers waiting to meet us, so our team is so excited about the line-up of new stores we have to open this summer. ‘Primania’ is spreading from New York to New Jersey and beyond, and these three new stores will answer the demand we’ve had for our amazing fashion at amazing prices in new communities in both states.”

Primark has been expanding rapidly across the US and is aiming to have 60 stores in the country by 2026. The retailer recently announced plans to move into the southern US, particularly in Texas.
