Prada re-opens production sites

Prada has announced that it has begun to resume production at its Tuscany workshop and its factories in the Umbria, Marche and Milan regions.

The luxury fashion brand has implemented a range of measures at the sites to protect workers against infection from covid-19.

Working in partnership with the Careggi Hospital in Florence, the brand has introduced double screening of employees through a serological test and a viral test. In addition, employees have their temperatures taken every day and must wear gloves and face masks for the full duration of their shifts.

Other safety measures include the introduction of reduced hours or hours split up over multiple shifts to ensure orderly access to the sites and to enable workstations to be kept two metres apart.

Patrizio Bertelli, Prada chief executive, said: “In this emergency situation we have not only been considering when to reopen our manufacturing facilities, but above all how to keep our employees safe from the virus when they did reopen. We immediately sought advice from leading healthcare facilities and from cutting-edge specialist suppliers to identify the top-rated medical technology currently available to safeguard the health of our employees and to combat the virus.”
