Pandora appoints chief HR officer

Jewellery retailer Pandora has appointed Erik Schmidt as chief HR officer.

Schmidt will join the business on 12 August after working in the same role at child safety product brand, Britax. Prior to that, he held HR positions at HSBC, Avis, General Electric, Lego and Diageo.

Pandora chief executive Alexander Lacik said Pandora needed to support its employees as the company relaunches its brand. He added: “This requires an HR executive with extensive global transformation experience as well as operational experience from some of our key markets – and that is what Erik Schmidt brings to Pandora.”

Following a short handover period, Mads Kamp, senior vice president for group HR, will leave the company. Pandora said this was due to there being significant changes in requirements for this position.

Following the brand relaunch and the implementation of its business transformation plan, Pandora is aiming to achieve annual cost savings of DKK 1.2 billion by the end of 2020. This will  be used to fund new branding and marketing initiatives as well as the development of a new store design and online shopping experience.
