Original Penguin expands into Spain
US lifestyle brand Original Penguin has entered Spain with the opening of a flagship store in Madrid.
Situated at Jorge Juan 11 in the upmarket Barrio Salamanca district, the store will offer the brand’s full collection, including men’s sportswear, loungewear, headwear, leather goods, underwear and socks.
The shop has been launched through Original Penguin’s new Spanish license partner, Linea Magna Europa, an affiliate of Linea Magna which has successfully grown Original Penguin in Mexico since 2012. The distribution agreement in Spain covers retail stores, ecommerce, and wholesale distribution.
Oscar Feldenkreis, president and chief executive of Original Penguin’s parent company Perry Ellis, said: “Drawing from our previous experience with the growth and development of Original Penguin in Mexico, we recognise similarities between the Spanish and Mexican markets, while also acknowledging the unique characteristics of our customers in both regions.
“We have no doubt about the potential and success of introducing an iconic lifestyle brand like Original Penguin to the Spanish market.”
The brand’s entry into Spain and new store opening will be supported by a marketing campaign which will include in-store events and digital activations, as well as social and media components.
In addition to the Madrid flagship location, Original Penguin lifestyle products will launch across Spain through department stores, multi-brand retailers, and the brand’s new ecommerce site.
