Next’s group operations director to retire
Next, the fashion and homewares retailer, has reported that its group operations director, Michael Law, will be retiring after 23 years with the business.
He will leave the company in July and step down from the board at Next’s AGM in May.
In a statement, the company said: “Michael has made a huge contribution to the group in his 23 years with Next. In particular, he has led the transformation of our warehousing, logistics and systems operations over the last 10 years. The board thank him for his outstanding service.”
Law told Next he would like to retire over a year ago and the company has since been working on a succession plan. This has resulted in Richard Papp being appointed as an executive director and as the company’s group merchandise and operations director.
Having worked with Next for 25 years, Papp has held a variety of roles within the company before becoming group merchandise director in 2006.
In this role he was responsible for Next’s merchandising function, product systems, international franchise, and clearance operations.
