NAS links up with the Management and Supervisory Development Programme
A significant part of the promotion of membership of the National Association of Shopfitters and the benefit that brings to our members is constantly under scrutiny. Having a qualified and competent workforce is vital if the business is to grow over time. Well trained employees are safer, better skilled, work faster and make fewer mistakes. All of which can only be good for your bottom line.
More over, major clients are increasingly demanding that their suppliers are actively involved in skills training and business development. In recognising the significant position held by the National Association of Shopfitters in this sector of the Construction Industry the Management & Supervisory Development Programme of ConstructionSkills can specifically proffer support to help the NAS and its members improve on business performance directly through programmes of staff development at Management and Supervisory levels. Policies and legislation, significant advances in technology and new developments in working practices create a complex working environment for shopfitting companies. With unrivalled information on learning and skills within the industry, as well as strong partnership links, ConstructionSkills are uniquely placed to help offer the strategic advice, leadership, direction and influence to help and encourage Shopfitting sector training. To qualify for funding, shopfitters and interior contractors must be able to show how the training will improve the performance of their business. Membership of the National Association of Shopfitters is a key criterion for any funding. If youre not in the NAS then simply there is no access to the Management and Supervisory Development Programme, its as simple as that. It is highly appropriate therefore that the NAS launched the Shopfitting Industry Independent Training Forum at its Annual General Meeting on the 7th February 2007. The Management and Supervisory Development Programme will greatly assist this very exciting opportunity to deliver further impetus for members to train. Further endorsing the sector based approach to skills in line with the recent recommendations in the Leitch Review of Skills published on the 5th December 2006. This means that with our strategic partners in ConstructionSkills and particularly the Management and Supervisory Development Programme NAS members through the Independent training Forum will be able to have more say over the development of life long learning in our industry. The future of the Shopfitting and Interior Contracting sector continues to look healthy and it will be those companies who have the right skills, in the right place at the right time who stand to capitalise the most investing in training that will be developed through your independent training forum is the only way to guarantee this. NAS House would urge members to give serious consideration to upskilling and qualifying their staff and training up new apprentices it can only bring benefits in the future. NAS are supporting the In-Store show, 12-14th June at Earls Court 2 , London.
