Moss Bros launches eco suit

Moss Bros has launched a new suit that helps customers do their bit for the environment.

With the fabric made from up to 45 plastic bottles, the ‘eco suit’ is lined with fabric that is a minimum of 99% recycled polyester and the thread is made from 100% recycled polyester yarns. It also features corozo nut buttons and pocketing fabric that is OEKO-TEX certified and made using less chemicals and water.

Made in India, the suit retails for £169.

Brian Brick, chief executive  of Moss Bros, said:  “At Moss Bros we have focused on supporting what is best for the environment wherever possible and consciously support our customers to do the same. The launch of the eco suit means that Moss Bros’ customers can move towards a more sustainable future while avoiding unnecessary waste.”

In addition, Moss Bros has reported that like-for-like retail sales rose by 2.9% in the 26 weeks to 27 July.  In-store sales edged up 0.6% while online sales increased by 20%.

Like-for-like hire sales, which accounted for 10.7% of total sales in the half year, dropped by 14.7%.

Adjusted pre-tax profit before adoption of IFRS 16 was just above breakeven.  However, the company’s reported pre-tax loss after adjusting items was £2.7 million compared to a loss of £1.7 million in the same period in the previous year.
