Matt Davies to become chairman of N Brown
N Brown, the owner of the Simply Be, JD Williams and Jacamo clothing brands, has appointed former Halfords and Pets at Home chief executive Matt Davies as non-executive director and chairman elect.
Due to take up the position of chairman on 1 May, he will succeed Andrew Higginson who is retiring from the board.
Davies is currently chief executive of Tesco UK and the Republic of Ireland. Having been appointed in 2015, he has led the turnaround of the business which is now entering a new phase with the proposed merger with the Booker wholesale group.
His previous roles include chief executive of Halfords and the same position at Pets at Home.
Commenting on the appointment, Higginson, said: “Matt is a first-class retailer and brings a wealth of experience to the group. He has a proven track record of value creation across retail and online through his roles as chief executive of Tesco UK and ROI and as chief executive of Halfords and Pets at Home. It has been a privilege to chair the company through the past five years, and I wish the business every success in the coming years.”
Davies added: “I am delighted and excited to be taking on this role. I am really looking forward to working with Angela, her team and my fellow non-executive directors to further develop and grow the N Brown business.”
