Matches Fashion hires John Mooney as executive creative director

Matches Fashion has appointed John Mooney as its executive creative director as part of plans to strengthen its executive team.

Mooney previously worked with ASOS for over 13 years where his most recent role was global brand creative director. Earlier in his career, he worked with Topshop Topman and Alexander McQueen.

At Matches, Mooney has reunited with former ASOS chief executive Nick Beighton who was appointed to head up Matches last year.

Commenting on the appointment, Beighton said: “John is fantastic addition to lead our creative teams and I am looking forward to working together. We remain focused on our ambition to be THE luxury destination for for customers in the world. John brings a depth of experience and leadership that will be invaluable as we enter our next phase of growth.”

Last month the Apax Partners private equity firm committed to injecting up to £60 million into Matches Fashion to help boost its turnaround.
