Mango to add 60,000 square metres of new selling space this year
Spanish fashion retailer Mango is planning to open 60,000 new square metres of selling space throughout 2019.
The company said 15,000 square metres will be allocated to 27 company owned stores and 45,000 square metres to new franchise stores around the world.
Mango is also planning to continue focusing on the opening of larger stores while closing smaller outlets. Since it began the transformation of its store network in 2012, the average size of its stores has increased by 54%.
At the end of 2017, Mango had 2,190 stores in 110 countries. The company closed the financial year with 211 megastores, 20 of which opened during 2017. At the end of the period franchises represented 55% of the chain’s retail outlets.
The company has also reported that online sales growth accelerated in 2018 and that it now expects the channel to account for 20% of total turnover during 2019.
