Loopi launches to revolutionise second-hand fashion in the UK

A new online platform, Loopi, has launched in the UK, aiming to streamline the buying and selling of second-hand clothing.

Loopi seeks to simplify the resale process by allowing users to receive an instant purchase price for their clothing. Sellers can input basic details about their items, such as gender, category, and brand, and receive an offer in cash or credit. The company provides a shipping label for sending in the items, with payouts made within 48 hours of authentication.

The platform also includes a charity component, offering sellers the option to donate part or all of their earnings to Cancer Research UK. Loopi has partnered with the charity as part of its mission to extend the life cycle of clothing and reduce textile waste.

The co-founders, Carl and Katie Walker, Sarah Dean, and Sam Hunter, bring decades of experience in the second-hand fashion industry. Loopi was developed with backing from private investors, including Mohsin Issa CBE and Victoria Price under Boulder Investco, a fund supporting UK startups.

Co-founder Carl Walker explained: “At Loopi, we’re solving the problem of cluttered wardrobes in a way that’s simple, fast, and impactful. With 1.6 billion items of clothing sitting idle in UK homes, Loopi helps people turn these forgotten pieces into cash or credit with just a few clicks. Through our partnership with Cancer Research UK, sellers can even contribute to life-saving research while decluttering.”

In addition to simplifying selling, Loopi aims to attract buyers by curating branded second-hand clothing, including labels like Levi’s, Ralph Lauren, and Burberry, at discounted prices. The platform’s focus on quality and convenience is intended to appeal to those seeking affordable and sustainable fashion options.

With an ambition to sell at least 500,000 items in its first year, Loopi is positioning itself as a contender in the growing resale market. The company also aims to support sustainability efforts by keeping more clothing in circulation and reducing landfill contributions.

Sarah Dean added: “Loopi makes it incredibly easy for people to sell their clothes, and with so many items going unused, sourcing high-quality pieces isn’t an issue. Buyers are seeking affordable, branded second-hand fashion, and Loopi is perfectly positioned to meet this demand.”
