Kurt Geiger plans to open a new store every month this year
Footwear retailer Kurt Geiger has announced ambitious plans to open many stores in the UK this year, following various philanthropic activities by the brand throughout the pandemic.
In fact, the business could open more than one store every month with sales having already recovered to 80% of pre-pandemic levels, despite footwear having been one of the hardest-hit categories during various lockdowns in 2020 and 2021.
In a conversation with the Times, shoe chain CEO Neil Clifford expressed his optimism about the plan. His perception was driven by the company’s recent sales recovery, which rose to 80% of pre-pandemic levels.
Its retail-centric approach is also backed by what Clifford described as “landlords are much more friendly,” with lower rents and other factors helping physical retail recovery.
Generous philanthropic donations and revitalization, such as NHS donations and discounts to healthcare professionals, have been endorsed by shoppers around the world and helped retailers win a cohort of new customers.
