Joules hires new chief executive
Joules has appointed Asda director Nick Jones as its new chief executive.
Jones joined Asda in 2011, initially to run the George clothing brand. As a member of the supermarket’s executive board, he is now also responsible for the performance of Asda’s food and general merchandise businesses.
Prior to Asda, Jones worked with Marks & Spencer from 1995 when he joined the retailer’s graduate scheme. Following a rise up the ranks, his final role with the retailer was director of home, beauty and gifts.
Ian Filby, non-executive chairman of Joules, said: “On behalf of the board and everyone at Joules, I am thrilled to welcome Nick as our next CEO. Nick’s extensive retail, brand and strategy credentials, as well as a clear alignment with the Joules values, made him the outstanding candidate for the role.”
Due to take up his new position before the end of 2019, Jones will succeed Colin Porter who is retiring and will step down after a short handover period.
Filby added: “Nick will join an exceptional management team and the board has every confidence in their abilities to lead Joules through the next stages of the group’s long-term growth and development.”
