John Lewis launches pop-up with luxury reseller Sign of the Times

John Lewis has launched a pop-up partnership with Sign of the Times as its first offering for pre-loved fashion.

The luxury fashion reseller has opened a pop-up shop at John Lewis Partnership’s Peter Jones store in London’s Sloane Square.

Remaining open until 31 January, the space will offer a collection of pre-loved designer items including outerwear, bags and accessories from brands such as Goyard, Chanel, Moncler, Gucci and Loewe.

The pop-up is a first for John Lewis in the pre-loved fashion market. According to ThredUp’s resale report, second-hand and off-price sectors are expected to take up a combined 37% of wardrobes by 2031, in comparison to 26% in 2021 as more people look to shop sustainably. Sign of the Times first opened in 1976 on Chelsea Green and at the time sold designer items owned by the celebrities of the day. With a global cult following, the brand now focuses on offering hard-to-find current season and pre-owned fashion of up to three seasons prior.  Antonia Johnstone, the owner and chief executive of Sign of the Times said: “Sign of the Times started nearly 50 years ago in Chelsea, so we are thrilled to be working with Peter Jones due to the synergy between the brands heritage, location and passion for customer service. We are excited to curate a beautiful selection for the Peter Jones clientele, so they can experience pre-loved in all its sustainable glory this Christmas.”Beth Pettet, head of category, fashion brands for John Lewis added: “We’re proud and excited to introduce Sign of the Times pre-loved clothing and accessories into our Peter Jones shop. This is our first pre-loved fashion pop-up which will offer a stylish, premium edit of designer products that will encourage our customers to support a more sustainable and unique way to shop. A pre-loved item is the perfect present to give this Christmas.”
